Climate change research award returns to provide students opportunity

The application window for the Climate Change Thought Leadership Award has reopened for undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD students studying at UK universities.

Run by Privilege Finance, the award provides students within the renewable energy sector, with the opportunity to be rewarded for their research and innovative approaches to climate change and carbon reduction solutions.

Winning students can expect to receive a £1,000 cash prize alongside mentoring, a visit to an anaerobic digestion plant, and networking opportunities.

Applications are open until 31st Jan 2023, and the winners will be awarded in Spring 2023.

Stevie Leeks, marketing manager at Privilege Finance, explains the reasoning behind the award.

“There’s an urgent need to upscale the use of renewable energy within the UK and the next generation will be pivotal in making this happen.

“The entrants to this award are the future generation of the renewable energy sector, so supporting them through the early stages of their careers and providing them with invaluable opportunities is essential,” she adds.

“We want to celebrate the students’ innovative ideas and research. These awards allow us to do so, as well as showcasing the opportunities available in industry,” she concludes.
